The Ford Escape enters the 2018 model year offering updates for all trim levels except for the base S and introducing the new SEL grade. The SEL slots between SE and Titanium trims and offers LED running lights, leather seats, power tailgate, heated side mirrors, Sync 3 interface with an 8” display, Sync Connect, and rear park-assist sensors. The SE grade now comes with roof rails, perimeter alarm, and heated front seats. The line-topping Titanium received HID headlights, active semi-autonomous park-assist system, and navigation. Besides, the most potent 2.0 L 245-hp turbo I4 is now available solely on the Titanium. Two new paint options were added to the new Escape.
The base engine for the 2018 Ford Escape is a 2.5 L I4 good for 168 hp and connected to a 6-speed automatic. SE and newly unveiled SEL grades employ a 1.5 L turbo I4 capable of developing 179 hp, while the Titanium comes with a 2.0 L turbo I4 under the hood that can generate 245 hp. Both optional power units are directed through a 6-speed automatic like the base one. The new Escape offers up to 68 cu. ft. of cargo space (with folded rear seats), enabling you to carry a lot of stuff. There is also enough space for small units – the crossover comes with bins for cups, keys, bottles, and electronic devices, seatback pockets on the front seats, and a deep bin in the center console. The base engine enables the Escape to tow 1,500 lb, while the 1.5 L I4 increases this number to 2,000 lb. With the 2.0 L power unit, you can tow up to 3,500 lb (with an available trailer package).
The 2018 Ford Escape comes with blind-spot mirrors and rear-view camera as standard. Lane departure intervention and warning, blind-spot monitoring, and forward collision alert are offered optionally. The rear seats of the model feature reinforcement anchors which are easy to access. There are LATCH anchors on the seatback surface providing easy access too. The 2018 Escape can be fitted with the corporate Sync 3 system with voice recognition. It offers intuitive touchscreen interface, quick response, smartphone integration, and clear graphics.
