The American full-size pickup truck market has been long time dominated by domestic makers with its leaders – the Ford F-150 and the Chevrolet Silverado. But recently, Nissan has aimed to get their piece of the cake. They started building full-size pickups and Nissan Titan began to win more and more admirers among the American public. To stay popular, vehicles should be kept fresh, which means timely updates and shorter life cycles. So for 2018, Nissan has some 'tasty' tweaks in store for its customers. Just in time for the total solar eclipse, Nissan introduced its new 2018 Nissan Titan Midnight Edition. The presentation took place in Tennessee when the Sun hid behind the Moon in the middle of the day.
The Midnight Edition offers a special package of dark upgrades for the exterior and interior, including blacked-out headlights, side mirrors caps, door handles, black grille with dark inserts, special black badging, step rails, body-color front and rear bumpers and black 20-inch alloy wheels. As a Nissan spokesman said to the press, the trend is toward less chrome. We will see more high-gloss and low-gloss finishes for the contrast. The Midnight Edition features three exterior paint colors: Magnetic Black, Gun Metallic, and Pearl White. In terms of optional equipment, for the upper trims, the 2018 Nissan Titan offers a variety of advanced kits, such as a leather interior, front and rear parking assist and blind-spot monitoring system.
Given that last year the Nissan Titan underwent a massive redesign, there are no big changes in the mechanical part. The 2018 Nissan Titan Regular Cab comes in S and SV trims, and for the Crew Cab, besides the more basic levels, buyers can opt for Pro-4X, SL, and Platinum Reserve trims. The Midnight Edition is available on the Titan Crew Cab SV and SL trim levels, equipped with rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. Still, just one engine is available for the 2018 Nissan Titan – a 5.6-liter V8 that produces 390 horsepower. This big thirsty engine is linked to a 7-speed automatic transmission.
