The original Toyota Tacoma was a compact pickup truck that appeared in the United States in March 1995. Intended to expand Toyota’s presence on the North American pickup truck market, the Tacoma was a replacement to the Pickup model, which by the time had become rather trite and could not maintain strong sales anymore. While enlarging its Tundra, whose first generation was only formally a full-size pickup truck, Toyota also added some muscles to the Tacoma that appeared as a mid-size pickup truck in 2004. In 2015, the third generation of this robust vehicle, the latest one so far, was presented at the Detroit Auto Show.
